Ashley Cooper

Hi!  My name is Ashley Cooper and I am the Music Specialist at Clyde Elementary.  I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Education.  I student taught at Waynesville Middle School and Tuscola High School where I was offered a job as Assistant Director of Bands.  During my ten years at Tuscola, I conducted the concert band, assisted with the symphony and marching bands, and directed the winter guard.  I moved to Clyde Elementary in August of 2012.  I enjoy sharing my love of music with the students at Clyde and instilling in them an appreciation for as many different genres of music as possible!

I am originally from Brevard, NC and moved to Haywood County in 2002.  I love to watch movies and spend time with my two wonderful children Madeline and Owen.  My main instrument is the flute and I play whenever I have the opportunity.

I believe that music helps us in all subjects.  It also gives students a creative outlet where they can express their individual talents.  I want the students at Clyde Elementary to be well rounded, lifelong learners.
