Early  Dismissal  Due  to  Inclement  Weather

After School will operate on a regular schedule unless an early dismissal is called by the Haywood County School Board due to inclement weather.  In the event an early dismissal is announced, After School will remain open for one hour only.  If conditions begin to deteriorate and become unsafe for travel,  parents will be notified by phone to come pick up their child/children immediately.

Behavior

We are committed to providing a nurturing and positive environment for all our students.  We make it our mission to discuss problems and solutions with the students when they arise.  The parent/guardian of the child will be notified if the problem continues and the child may be suspended from After School at the Director or Principal’s discretion if the problem persists further.

Snack

A healthy snack will be provided each day.  The cafeteria will supply a monthly calendar which lists the daily snack.  These snacks follow the guidelines set forth by Raleigh’s State Standards.  This calendar will be posted in the After School Room.

Emergency  Contacts

Each child’s records and emergency information must be up to date the entire time they are enrolled in the program.  Parents/Guardians must notify the After School Director immediately when their child/children’s information changes (phone numbers, address, pick up list and etc.).  This is for the safety of the children, so that a parent/guardian can be notified at any time in the event of an emergency situation.

Homework Time

Students will have the chance to work on homework for a period of 30 minutes each day except Friday.  A staff member will be available to help students, however, it is the parent/guardians responsibility to check the child’s agenda book and to view their child’s homework to make sure it is complete and correct.  This is not the responsibility of the After School staff members.
